Congratulations

I need to congratulate my  niece, Krysta, my sister in law, and brother in law for completing the Coaster Run 5K with me this morning. Also my father in law and husband's aunt for completing a 10K this morning too.  We were all up bright and early in the rain to prove to ourselves that we CAN do it.  And we did.  So proud of all of you.  This was a great way to start the week.

Dinner Tonight

http://www.flowers.vg/flowers/beet.htm
I went to a local Farmers Market today, at the OC fair grounds, and bought some golden beets.  The guy who sold them to me said to saute the green tops of the beets with garlic and olive oil.   I thought I would give them a try. They were green and would fit well with my St. Patty's Day dinner.  I don't know if any of you have had them before, but oh boy they tasted like dirt! Ok, dirt with a hint of garlic and slight spinach undertone. The golden beets were great roasted and tossed in with our smashed potatoes.  It looked like little golden nuggets :) If any of you have had beets tops and know how to cook them, please let me know. I like all that healthy stuff.

Being Sick

I didn't realize how hard it is to keep up your blog especially when you and everyone else in your house is sick.  The flu got the best of me for 3 days.  Tyler had a tube put in his ear. Ethan had the flu for about a day. And Corey.... well he just has a cold that won't go away.  We also don't have a compute that I can use during the day.  I am at home without being able post anything while the kiddos are sleeping.  I am hoping to be better this coming week. I have so many ideas I want to pursue and recipes I want to try.  I will post all as they come to be.  Hope you all enjoy your first week of the time change.  Longer days mean spring is around the corner.

Garage Find

I forgot my in-laws gave us this old ice cream maker year ago.  We have always wanted to make ice cream but never wanted to take the time to do it.  While I was cleaning out the garage, I thought I couldn't just leave this cool thing sitting in there and not being put to good use. I have been thinking about how we can redecorate our living room with old, meaningful pieces so this would be perfect!  Once I find a good use for this I will post a picture.

My Little Baseball Player

Tyler was so excited to play baseball.  The night before his first game, he kept telling us that he was nervous he wasn't going to be able to hit the ball hard.  He did great at the game.  He definitely is more of a baseball boy then a soccer boy.  I think we are going to have fun this baseball season. Tyler gets to play what he loves and Ethan gets to eat all the fun snack shack food :)
