Breakfast In Bed

Tyler decided to surprise us with breakfast in bed. He made waffles, the toaster kind, with peanut butter, fruit and yogurt, and coffee.  He brought it all in on trays and told us to enjoy.  I am so proud of our little boy.  I hope this continues every Saturday morning.  I wish I had my camera because he looked so cute carrying the trays in but it was in my car.  To cold and foggy to get up and get it :) But all of you that know Tyler could probably picture him doing this. Hope all of you have a great last Saturday of January.

Chilled Cucumber Soup

I attempted to make a Chilled Cucumber soup for my family.  The adults liked it... the kids... not so much. It was a bit too tart for themI am trying to get my kids to eat a wide range of food.  I guess this was a bit to "wide range" for them.

Cupcakes

Tried out blackberry cupcakes today.  They came out ok.  They need a more blackberry taste.   I think I will try adding some blackberry jam with the fresh blackberries and maybe some lime or lemon zest.  Picture will come soon when I figure out what I want the frosting to look like.

Lego Party Complete

And it starts with the invitation.

Then the decorations.

So I decided to us a lot of Lego scrapbooking paper.  Cheap and can be used in so many ways. I just cut different Lego sizes and taped them together.  I then placed them around the living room.  I also made these stickers from Vista Prints and put them on everything my husband would let me.
This was the guessing station.  The teacher in me came out.  The kids had to guess how many Legos were in the jar.  Of course, they won a Lego set if they got close.  So my birthday boy first won and I had to explain to him that he couldn't win the prize.  He wasn't too happy that the prize went to his 4 year old cousin.  He was fine after he realized he had a stack of gifts to open. The front entry was also were I kept the party favors.  I found Lego sets on clearance at the Lego store for $.98 and made a square cookie that said thank you on it.  For the little ones, they got bubble wands and a cookies.  Some of the kids couldn't believe that they got to go home with Legos! Again, another cool sticker made on Vista Prints was placed on the goodie bag.  I have to say thanks to my friend Katie for introducing Vista Prints to me a few years ago.  One of my favorites places. Check them out www.vistaprints.com
And then there was cake.... or cupcakes in my house.  So my son requested blackberry cupcakes with strawberry frosting and chocolate cupcakes with marshmallow cream cheese filling and chocolate frosting.  Let's just say we enjoy watching Cupcake Wars :) The cupcakes came out great.  I was shocked.  I made the cupcake signs with my handy Lego paper and Vista Print stickers.

And then the table. So I got this really cool table runner idea from http://deliacreates.blogspot.com/2011/01/lego-birthday-party.. So cute. It is bubble wrap spray painted to   look like a Lego base. Well it was suppose to :)

The party has come to an end.  My big boy is 6.  Now.... to start planning my niece Krysta's 21st birthday party in May.  What to do, what to do???  Princess theme is the winner.  So many ideas.  I will post them when I get them.  Have a great President's weekend.

Valentine's Treat

A special Valentine.  This is made from a Costco peanut can. I decorated it with scrapbook paper and ribbon.  This is for our classroom Valentine party.  The kids can put our Valentine's in it.  Love it :)

My dad had given me some frames from the 70's, I didn't know what to do with them.  I was laying in bed one night and came up with this idea.  I needed a place for my earrings and I needed to do something with this frame.... so this was the perfect solution.  My mom thinks I should make a bunch of these and try to sell them.  She is always thinking of ways I can make a buck. Thanks mom.

This was for Ethan's 3rd birthday.  He wanted a pirate party so that is want he got.  We had a treasure hunt in search for some pirates booty, bags of gold coins and pirate tattoos.  They kids had to earn a pirate patch and earring before the hunt began.  They did this by walking the "plank", a board lying over a chalk drawn ocean on the driveway. The kids had a blast.

Ok, so this is the first time I am doing anything like this.  I have been told for awhile that I should make some sort of blog but I never knew how.  After playing around with the computer for awhile, I finally did it! And no help needed from my tech coach husband.  The first thing I thought I would do is  share pictures from my youngest son's 3rd birthday.  He wanted a pirate party so this is what I came up with.  This was from September 2010 but I love how it turned out.
