The move was made and the demo has started

We made the move, March 26.  It actually went very smoothly.  I was quite surprised.  The kids settled in well and so did we.  The week we moved in, we couldn't wait to start the demo on our kitchen.  We had to wait till Corey's spring break to start.  His first day, the walls started coming down.  Here is a before picture of the wonderful 1970's vintage style kitchen :)

The demo went smoothly thanks to Brian and his hard work. Thanks a bunch.
We are replacing everything, including the wiring in the walls and plumbing.  We found wires that were damaged and a leak that could have turned into something horrible if our new cabinets were put in.  That is what you get with an "AS IS" sell.  Thank goodness for a our good friend Kevin who came to the rescue and helped Corey with the wiring.  You are wonderful! We owe you.
Here is our demo picture.  My hard working husband said that the kitchen will be done by next weekend, April 28. He has been working very hard to get our dusty, unorganized house back to normal.
We will post the pictures as soon as possible.

Moving

Good bye 92843 and hello 92845!! We are finally moving to the west side of Garden Grove, hopefully by the end of this week. This will be closer for Corey, he could walk to work, closer for Tyler and all his sports, and also closer to my work. We are excited and sad at the same time. We are giving up a house that is perfect, finally, and a huge backyard with vegetables just flowing out of our garden. We are getting a larger living space, a master bathroom, and new kitchen that we will be blogging about starting in 3 weeks. Join us in our new chapter of our lives:)
Thanks Colleen for getting me back in blogging gear.

Party, Party, Party

This box has everything I need to hopefully give my 4 year old the Superhero party he is dreaming about.  My goal is to do this party for under $125.  That includes food, drinks, games, cupcakes, and capes and masks for all 15 kids! This is going to be a challenge but I am up for it.  Many items have been  recycled from my pantry and borrowed from my 4th of July decoration thank goodness. I will post pictures and details after the party.  Ideas are still swimming in my head and hopefully I will be able to make them happen. Wish me luck.

Fall Wreath

Fall has got to be my favorite time of year.  The smells, colors, and getting back into a schedule after summer.  This is also the time of year that I love to decorate my house in all those rich tones the season has to offer.  As soon as I started playing around with my Silhouette, I knew I had to make a fall craft.  I love wreaths and found some paper flower wreaths on Pinterest that I just adored.  This is the paper wreath creation that I came up with.

I used a wire wreath frame for my base and then glued green moss around it.  I found two similar flower cut out from the Silhouette sight and cut them using autumn colors.  I then glued the flowers around the wreath. I haven't quite decided where I am going to hang it.
Corey has told me in the past that there is no fall decorating until after his birthday, September 5.  I guess I have to wait till then to make my decision.

What you could make with old fence pieces :)

So my dad had some old fence pieces laying around in his garage from my grandmother's old house.  I had my eye on them for quite some time.  I finally asked him if I could have them and he told me to take them all.  I was some excited, ideas were flooding my brain! I really wanted some kind of coat rack in our  front entry way, so this is what I came up with from one piece of fencing.  Corey cut the rounded part off and made the piece about 3 feet wide.  We then screwed in some drawer pulls from IKEA, $2,  as the hooks.  He then screwed the board into the wall in four places.  I was so pleased at how rustic it came out.  I have more pieces that I have fun ideas for.  I will post them once they are completed.

Ideas

Ok my dear friends, I need some ideas regarding types of fabric to cover my black distressed kitchen chairs with.  I have a red/cream floral print now and it already looks horrible. I've only had it on for a year! I was thinking a type of burlap but thought that would be hard on the legs when sitting in shorts. I don't want anything too expensive either.  The chairs were purchased at a garage sale for about $18 a piece.  I would post a picture put our computer is acting up.  As soon as I have one I will post it. Please help by commenting on the blog.

Bathroom Complete

The bathroom is 99% complete.  It's now my turn to work in it.  All I have left is to touch up paint and that's it!!! Done, done, done.  I am so thankful that we had summer vacation to complete this.  Corey was going to tackle this project the week before Christmas.  I would have gone CRAZY if he did.  If you could all remember, it was a week full of rain and Corey was getting his masters.  It would have taken him months to complete.  We had some set backs, the wrong green board, plumbing, oh and the fact that Corey got a skin infection on his knee and couldn't kneel on it for a few days.  We believe that was gracefully given to him by a spider and a dirt-filled campsite.  Anyway, I love my bathroom.  It is mold free and squeaky clean.  You may not see much of a difference, but we sure do.  He now wants to tackle the other bathroom.  Thank goodness it is just putting bead-board in.
